So what’s this site all about? That’s a fair question and hopefully I can answer it in a few short paragraphs. Basically, it is my sales hub. From here, you find links to my other sites and reviews of products I’m promoting.
With over 3.5 billion websites on the internet, the chances of someone finding yours is, to say the least, very small. But having your own website is the most important part of affiliate marketing. It is the foundation upon which you build your entire marketing system.
Most importantly, you own it! Unlike social media sites, nobody can deny you access. If you had a Facebook page with 3,000 followers, you could lose it overnight, along with access to all your followers. The same goes for YouTube, Twitter, Instagram or any other platform.
As far as affiliate marketing goes, your website gives you four key benefits:
- Brand recognition
- Building trust
- Building credibility
- Integration with your email list
These four factors are essential to you as a marketer.
While you don’t have a brand named product, such as Nike for example, you do have an identity. Customers need to get to know who you are, because they aren’t likely to buy anything from a complete stranger. How many online marketers are you competing with? I think it’s safe to say millions. I also think it’s safe to say very few of them actually have their own website. If you’re lucky enough to be able to get one with your name in it, you are miles ahead already.
Do you buy things from people you don’t trust? I doubt it. With your own site, people can get to know you; who you are, where you live, what your background is, etc. Trust is a two-way street. Customers need to believe they can trust you to provide something of value and you need to trust your customers aren’t going to ask for a refund for everything they buy. If you sell rubbish, nobody is going to trust you.
Ever bought a car from a slick salesman, only to find out you’ve got a lemon instead? I certainly have! Even if someone does start to trust you, if you are selling junk or have no idea what it is you’re selling, then you have no credibility. Trust and credibility go hand-in-hand. They reinforce each other. But you have to earn them. Having your own site and interacting with your visitors and customers enables you to develop both.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you will be very familiar with the saying, “The money is in the list”. Your subscribers are your most valuable asset. No leads means no subscribers, which means no sales! Your email list is how you keep in contact with your subscribers, to give them news and offers. Your website integrates with your autoresponder. You own both. Well maybe not own, but you’re paying for them, so you will keep them as long as you keep paying.
Why This Site Exists
So, now you know why you need a website and why I have this one. I am doing this because someone I know, trust and believe in, told me this is what I need to do. They also showed me proof from their own site, that it is the best method to use. I learn from others and you learn from me. That’s the ethical and honest way to help someone.
